Fundamental changes have occurred in the workers’ compensation laws during 2004. The effect of these changes, combined with an opportunity to apply my efforts elsewhere, has brought me to the decision to close my private law practice effective December 31, 2004.

A Special Note Regarding CompRate Software:
Having had an opportunity to review the draft of the new PD rating manual, I have come to the difficult decision that is it is not going to be worth the substantial commitment to re-do CompRate to be compatible; there are just too many variables such that it would take a monumental commitment of time to make it happen. The first version CompRate was 4 months of night and day sweat to get going, and has required many hours of work each year to keep current. There will be no 2005 version of CompRate.
Effective immediately, CompRate 2004 will be available as a free download for all members of the workers' compensation community. It will still do PD ratings for cases falling under the 1997-2004 Schedule, as well as my favorite worksheets, which have always been the workers compensation math functions. I will also post the Palm OS and Pocket PC versions of the worksheets for all the techie geeks like me who wander around the Board spouting out on the spot calculations of benefits on their PDAs. As with all free software, there will be no technical support available. Read the manual, all the answers are there anyway.
My heartfelt thanks go to all who have made CompRate a success.
